HERE'S SOME CLOTHES

This is Brigs and I doing our best fashion-blogger outfit-post poses. If we look awkward, that's because we are awkward.

Here is where I am supposed to describe what I am wearing and where I got each item from, but I fear that would be pointless with this outfit, since you won't be able to go out and buy anything I am wearing. I am that unique.

I don't know exactly what Brigs is wearing, but I think her mum made that shirt, and at least one thing is probably from Urban Outfitters.

My manicure! I'm liking this triangle thing.

Brigs' necklace is also a clock! And her skirt is also shorts! So versatile.

So that was my outfit post. I don't know how you fashion bloggers do it, because I wore almost the exact same thing the day before and the day after these pictures were taken. Sometimes I wear the same outfit for a whole week. Sometimes I don't wash my hair for a week as well. I am kind of disgusting.

NAILED IT! MY MONTH IN POLISH

Whenever I feel the urge to shop (which is often), I like to buy nail polishes.
They are an inexpensive way to satisfy my money-spending cravings.
Painting my nails is like releasing some creative energy. Also, I think I have become desensitised to the smell of nail polish/remover, because apparently my room smells like it almost all the time. I haven't noticed the smell in aaages.

These pink and black nails are what I've got on right now. The second picture is matte blue with sparkly blue tips.

Spots and stripes with my nail art pen, and SPARKLES. I have at least 5 nail polishes bought purely because they were SPARKLY. Warning: confetti nail polish is pretty much impossible to remove.

WELL-WORN BASICS: A LOVE LETTER

Everyone has at least one item in their wardrobe which they love so much that it's falling apart. I have at three of these items, which I wear nearly every day.

photo 1photo 2

When I say I am not much of a bag person, I am not kidding. I wear this bag printed with human hearts, that I got from Dangerfield at least two years ago for all occasions. To the office (where it looks extremely out of place amongst the briefcases, laptop bags and LV monogrammed status-symbol monstrosities), to uni and to parties, bars, the beach - EVERYWHERE. It gets so much use that the print is rubbing off; there are stains all over it; I have sewn the lining back together twice already; and the strap came apart just two days ago so I have a giant safety pin to keep it attached (it's kind of grunge right?). I really want a new one, but I haven't seen it, or anything similar, anywhere affordable.

photo 3 photo(4)

I bought these shoes online at The Horse. I have another pair of shoes from them, brown boots, but they are not as comfortable as these. These smell like leather and make my feet/socks smell like leather. They are dirty and scuffed and starting to fall apart. I used to wear them every day, but I began to worry about their health, so now they are more of a sometimes shoe and I wear cheap loafers every other day.

photo 5photo(3)

This is the watch I actually wear every single fucking day. My best friend bought it for me (two years ago maybe? And it hasn't needed a battery change yet!) and it makes me so incredibly nostalgic for childhood. It makes beeping sounds when you press the buttons. In the morning, I automatically put it on and if I ever forget, I spend the day checking my bare wrist over and over. Maybe I should get these for those days. I can't even own any other kind of watch, I have to have a digital one because I can't read the time quickly. Like those watches without numbers or with notches that mark where the numbers should be? I cannot read those, I can only make estimates.

Do you guys have items that you wear every day, helping you to cocoon yourself in a comfortable sartorial routine? I pretty much build all my outfits from these items, which is probably why everything I own is black/goes with black.

THE LIFE I LEAD

So, this is the first blogging opportunity I have had in a week, life is busy. First of all, I love all the comments my last post received (even though it was super banal)! I don't care if it's shameless blog-promotion, or people returning comments as a courtesy, it's so satisfying and ego-boosting to know that people are reading my ramblings.

I'm working two jobs, so I thought I would share a couple pictures from one of them. Sometimes I don't appreciate what a beautiful view I get every single day. People pay good money for this view.

Also, I'm doing Summer school at uni right now which sucks. I met the most privileged girl in the world on my second day. She was complaining about an amazing job at a large finance company in Sydney that she has lined up. The opportunity came up because the company director is her parents' friend and he literally begged her to work there. She got the job over other genuine applicants and the way she was talking about it, so unaware of her own privilege and derisive of the position and the other applicants made me so angry! Naturally, most of this anger arises from jealousy.

That's enough ranting. Here is a shirt I had made for my boyfriend, which was supposed to be a Christmas gift, but it arrived super late. He LOVES Fresh Prince.

THINGS ON THE INTERNET

I just finished reading The Hunger Games, and I found it quite enjoyable. Looking forward to the film. Anyway, I have been spending copious amounts of time on the internet and watching television these couple of weeks. I am a vegetable. Aaand, one of my coworkers just walked past me with her 20-inch waist, making me feel all guilty and shit.

Align Center
Grass picnic table by Haiko Cornelissen, via swiss-miss. Completely impractical, but if I were rich this would be mine. Also, I would plant daisies. Oh wait, how awesome would it be to have herbs and veggies planted in the table, that you could just pick whenever?

Kind of like this salad from Alinea (via Luxirare).

I love ALL the things over at Wolf & Moon. Kitschy jewellery is my thing, since I will destroy anything precious. I can't even IMAGINE owning diamonds, or real gold. Or even real silver. Once I had this really nice men's watch from Breitling that my dad bought me, but I kept knocking it against doorways and walls until one of the hands came loose (?!), I can't have expensive things.

New season of Portlandia. I love this picture, I don't care if it's parodying hipsters - my whole LIFE is a hipster parody. I want that ship-print cushion so bad it makes my heart hurt.

Speaking of television - OMGOMG! Community is back on air in a few months and if it gets renewed for a fourth (and fifth) season then I will declare my undying love to the gods of network television. I love this poster so much: Danny Pudi and Donald Glover are the bomb(s) and it's a combination of my two favourite shows (Community and Dr. Who).

CHIPSTER DETAILS: 05.01.12

Haven't had anything to blog about since New Years. Back at work and summer school next week and all I want to do right now is sit at my laptop and watch trashy Cinderella-themed movies.

I went to the beach this week. The weather was awesome. You know what looks weird though? The tan you get from wearing high-waisted shorts. Also, ate fish and chips without utensils for the first time. I am living life on the edge.

Burgers from a pub in Balmain. Posting this is making me hungry.

photo 3

My first ever trashy lady novel! It's so so terrible, but I just keep reading it. Like a fiction version of Cosmopolitan magazine.

photo 2

I tore this out of an MCA booklet years ago, and now I can't remember who the artist is. If there are any art fanatics out there, I would love to know!

Hope everyone's week is going well. I might have some content soon in the form of household DIYs if I can muster up the energy to get off my butt.

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

Amazingly, I did not have a shitty new years eve this year. In fact, it was kind of awesome! I worked until 10.30PM and had the rest of the night off with a couple workmates and free booze.

PC310311

I guess this kind of counts as an outfit post, although I can't say that a grey t-shirt and black skirt ensemble is very much of an outfit. Oh, but I accessorised with a tacky tiara! That is totally on-trend.

A few of us managed to kind-of accidentally crash an NYE party, because we're so badass. However, we left after one drink because we aren't that badass.

The fireworks were great, even though I spent much more time filming them than actually enjoying them.

Now Brigs is someone who needs to start a fashion blog. I'm pretty sure that camel kimonos are so in right now. So are hip flasks printed with peace signs and full of some delicious tequila.

Damn white girls making me look so short. I am not that short, these girls are just abnormally tall. Giants, in fact.

P1010546

For the first time in at least 3 years, I got to see the sun rise (watching the light creep into my room at 4am, while cursing my insomnia, does not count). I got bored and I didn't watch the whole thing though, these moments are wasted on me.

So I hope everyone had an amazing NYE and 2011. 2012 is hopefully going to be a big year for me, and I consequently have big resolutions set.
  • Finish my degree
  • Find a job in my area of interest(s)
  • Become internet famous

Because I predict that I will fulfill none of these resolutions, I have also made a list of more attainable goals, to help alleviate the inevitable disappointment I will feel when this time next year I write up an identical list.

  • Get a haircut
  • Floss teeth
  • Don't give up on blog, like I did with my last 20
